It's Official...

Ben's name has officially been added to "the cradle". This cradle was handmade by Jeff's Uncle Buddy for him when he was born. Since then it has cradled every House/Davis grandchild, and their names are represented on plaques on the cradle. As you can see, Ben is pretty much too big for this now, so Kady and Dan, get ready because we're ready to hand it over, wink, wink. (Before anyone jumps to conclusions, I am NOT implying that Kady is pregnant, just suggesting the idea).

Shout out

I really like this picture and thought I'd give a shout out to my beautiful niece, Ana. We love you and hope to visit you and the rest of the family very soon!!

Do you ever get that feeling

that someone is looking over your shoulder? We get that feeling about once a week around 8:00 at night. Every now and again Audrey is just not ready to hit the sack and is determined not to stay in her room. She usually sneaks out and sets up camp in the hallway upstairs and can see the t.v. from that location. Sometimes she brings a whole slew of dolls and stuffed animals with her and sets them up on their own pillows, but last night she was flying solo. Last night was the first night we've found her actually asleep up there.

Unexpected Adventure

Ben came down with a fever yesterday afternoon and it kept climbing higher. He ended up in the Children's ER last night to get blood work and cultures to see if it was an infection. Thank goodness it is none of the above and is probably a virus. He managed to sleep well last night despite his ordeal- which is more than I can say for myself. Here's my tough little cookie in his hospital gown last night.

It was only a matter of time...

...before the tutus and tiaras wound up on Ben. Here's a look at Prince Ben this morning.

8 Weeks Old....

...and lots of pictures to document this week. It's been a busy week for us all. Audrey finished pre-school (sniff sniff) for the year and had a few festivities there and also had her 2nd dentist appointment. We also had a play date with Audrey's birthday buddy (born on the same day) and her new baby brother who is 3 .5 weeks younger than Ben. Sadly I did not manage to get the camera out for this one. It was great to catch up and reminisce about when the girls were sleeping little angels in their car seats and how they have grown up. Ok, so you're waiting for the pictures. Here is Ben in his 8th week of life....

What are you looking at?
These dangly things are soo fascinating.
Peaceful redhead.

Back off, sis!
Ahh, much better, those curls were tickling my head.

So proud!!!

Audrey finished her first soccer session and is so proud to have received a trophy!!!! She coddled it all afternoon and proudly posed with pictures. As a matter of fact, she is polishing it with a baby wipe right now. As much as she loved soccer, she did ask me if she could take "ballerina lessons."

Baby Longlegs

Ben really is starting to fill out nicely and I think his face has changed a lot in the past few weeks. He's really long and has outgrown all of his footed jammies. His legs are too long to get them snapped up even if the rest of it fits. Looks like I'll be the shortest one in the family in a few years.

Kitty Einstein

Who doesn't love Baby Einstein? After being evicted from the changing table, Bailey is trying out other baby products to see what suits her best. Like we need cat hair on the baby toys too.

Wonderful Wedneday

...well, even if it wasn't, it's best to think positive, but it was a pretty good day today. Ben has hit some milestones, such as sleeping through the night a few times! Yeah! Other nights he gets up once around 2 or 3, so that is manageable. Let's keep working toward those all nighters!
Here are some pics from today and yesterday.

His future is so bright....

Stat Update

6 week Checkup:
11 lbs and 4 ounces- 95th%
23 inches - 95th%
Head circumference - 50th%
Hee Hee. I have to laugh. Audrey's head was 95th% until she was about 18 months old....
Ben was declared practically perfect in every way.

Smiley

These pictures are not very good quality, but I was taking them while Ben was in my lap. He was being really cute and smiling and cooing and I made an attempt to capture them on camera. At any rate, here they are.
And...here is one that Audrey took. I guess she's an aspiring photographer.

11 Pounds

No, that's not how much I have gained this week since the MOMS group at church ash been bringing me meals, but it's close. Anyway, it's how much Ben weight today at the Dr. We were in for a clogged tear duct and the little man has porked up to 11 pounds even. He goes in Tuesday for his regularly scheduled appointment. I wonder how much he'll gain in a week! I won't be reporting on my weight.

Notice Ben's new golf sock/shoes. Thanks Myers family!

Look, no hands!

I think I finally figured out this baby wearing thing....95% anyway. He fell asleep right away, so this could be a good deal if I get this running smoothly.

Saturday in the Burbs

Today was a fairly lazy day. Ben and Daddy watched Mr. Zach play (very well) in the Quail Hollow Championship and Audrey played outside in the warm sunny weather that we did not expect today. I did a little of everything as usual, as any Mom knows, there is always something to be done. Here are a few pics from the day.

The house that Daddy built.

The Easter bunny and the Stork decided to chip in and get big sister something to do in her back yard this summer. The instructions said it would take "2 moderately skilled people 6-8 hours to assemble." Hmmm. Should have ripped off the cover page before showing the instructions to Jeff as not to scare him. Turns out Jeff must be fantastically skilled because he put it together by himself in one (long) afternoon. Audrey loves it, as do the dogs who think they just got the coolest dog house on the block. First prioroty for Audrey was to pick out and plant flowers. She waters them everyday just like any good homeowner should.

Up to the highest height...

Finally....we got a kite that did not break in the first 30 seconds out of the package, and a windy day! Audrey has been begging to fly a kite and of course singing the song too since a Mary Poppins viewing not too long ago, so here we are flying a kite!!!

TEN!

Happy birthday Bailey Cat!! You have managed to knock off several of your 9 lives over the years and have made it to 10! You've suffered kidney failure, spent the night treed by a German Shepherd, tolerated 2 dogs and now 2 children, had your claws ripped out of one paw, and somehow your 10 year appt finds you healthier than you've been in years. We love you Bailey, even though we don't get as much quality time with you these days. Thanks for keeping my feet warm at night and my hand muscles in good working order (spraying the barf remover sprayer). Here's to 10 more years with you.

5 Weeks Old

Ok, so I missed the one month picture, but here are some of Ben at 5 weeks. He has really started to change this week and look less "newborn-ish". Yesterday Ben had his longest awake time ever and spent a few hours wrapping us all around his finger.
