Grandma was able to come for a visit this past week, and although we missed Papa very much, we had a great time with Grandma! It was her birthday while she was here, so we made her cupcakes! Mmm. Audrey's favorite!! Grandma also made Audrey a Buzzy-buzzy Bee blanket to take the place of Bumblebee (may he rest in peace wherever he is). A good time was had by all and we look forward to when we can see Grandma and Papa together.
Our story unfolds one day at a time. I hope you enjoy this glimpse into our memories in the making.

Goofing Around
Since we don't have many little kids in the neighborhood yet, Audrey spends a lot of time with her "big babies." This one is Cybil, Betsy, or Sarah, depending on what day you ask her. She is quite a big girl and is a few inches taller than Audrey. She's quiet and well behaved though and doesn't eat much, so I let her hand around.

A visit from Aunt Kady
We've had a lot of adventures lately. We've been here and there, and have had the pleasure of having visitors here too! This weekend Aunt Kady (who "has hair just like Ariel")was able to come for a visit. Audrey had a great time showing her all of her princesses. We also went mini golfing and had some other fun adventures.

Yee-Haw
Although ponies don't really call for a big "yee-haw", that's what Audrey kept saying all the way to the pony rides. We went with some friends today to ride a pony for the first time. We pass by so many horses on a daily basis that Audrey has been asking to ride one. So today I was able to oblige her. She had a great time and also got to feed the big horses some apples and carrots.
Checking out the saddle before she tried the real thing.
Audrey enjoying a stroll on Blackjack the pony.
Audrey wasn't so sure of Blondie.
Aww, so cute, but watch out for the horse poop!

Trip to YaYa and Pop's and the Scarecrow Festival
This past weekend we went to visit YaYa and Pop in SC. The weather at home all week had been dreary and chilly, but YaYa and Pop managed to order up some superb 85 degree, sunny weather, which we thoroughly enjoyed! Saturday we attended the Scarecrow Festival and got a good start on Halloween! We also enjoyed the pond behind YaYa and Pop's house and all the fish, ducks, turtles, and other critters.

Decorating a pumpkin. The tongue is definitely a genetic trait.
Examining the nets to see if she caught anything.
Audrey and YaYa checking out the pond critters.
What's a festival without a bouncy house?
The local pumpkin report.
YaYa and Audrey preparing a delicious breakfast! Mmm.

Apple Pickin'
With another day of beautiful fall weather at our disposal we decided to go apple picking. There were an awful lot of apples to be had, and Audrey did her best to get as many as she possibly could. As a result, our menu for the next month will be apple pie, apple sauce, apple muffins, apple pancakes, apple butter...you get the idea!
Woo hoo, this is fun!

Touch a Truck Day
There certainly were a lot of trucks to touch at "Touch A Truck" day, and a heck of a lot of other people too! Again, the weather was wonderful so none of us minded waiting in line much. Audrey again found a bounce house immediately, and also enjoyed several other activities of the day. Her favorite, and Daddy's favorite was definitely the F4 jet that Audrey got to sit in. Rumor has it there were "a lot" of buttons.
Everyone's favorite F4 pilot.
Checking out the Bobcat
Doing some gymnastics in the Fun Bus
Driving Michael Waltrip's race car
Working the bubble wand
Exploring the ambulance
Showing off all of her loot at the end of the day
Everyone's favorite F4 pilot.
BBQ, Blues, and Blankets
We all attended BBQ, Blues, and Blankets last Friday night and had a really great time. The weather has been cooperating so well this past week and it was the perfect fall evening. We enjoyed our picnic and then Audrey danced her heart out to the Blues and played in the bounce house as many times as she could get in there. Most of all though, I think she enjoyed wrestling with Callie in the grass and playing Ring Around the Rosie.

My little copycat
It really is so sweet when someone wants to be just like you. If you ask Audrey, she'll tell you she has a baby in her belly just like Mommy, and she wears my shoes and uses my cell phone, and tries to do just about everything else I do. This morning I caught her wearing my glasses and reading my book. It's a wonder she didn't go blind just from trying on my Hubble lenses!

Beauty and the Bedhead
Curly hair has got to provide some of the best bedhead imaginable! Every morning provides a new and interesting work of art on Audrey's head. This morning while we were making muffins and the light was coming through the fray an frizz I thought I'd capture some of the craziness that I have to comb through before we can leave the house.

Snow White and the Wicked Queen
Audrey is very much into her princesses these days and into acting the stories out. She has been asking me to play double duty between the Wicked Queen and Prince Charming (depending on whether or not she has already eaten the apple and needs to be woken up with a kiss). In this picture she has asked me to be the Wicked Queen, so I gave her a few chores to do. She asked for it, and I appreciate it!
She is wearing her Sleeping Beauty dress here though.....think we'll play Sleeping Beauty around 7:30 tonight!
